When you immigrate to Ontario, you are NOT provided with Health Insurance immediatly.
You will have to wait for 90 days to get your coverage started. Here is a table that shows when your coverage actually begins.
| Date Residence is Established in Ontario | Coverage Begins |
| January 15 | April 15 |
| May 3 | August 3 |
| November 30 | February 28 |
To register for OHIP Coverage, go to your nearest OHIP Office and register. Please also keep OHIP updated about your address changes. It is usually suggested that you get Emergency medical coverage during the first 90 days.
