oA typical letter that accompanies the landing visa reads like this:
Dear XXX,
Your visa is affixed in your passport. If you have accompanying dependants, their visas are affixed in their respective passports. If you have failed to notify this office of a change in your legal status or that of any accompanying family member (marriage, common law partnership, birth, death, adoption, divorce, etc.,) your visas will not be acceptable at CAnadian port-of-entry and you will not be granted permanent residence in Canada. If there is a change in the status of any member of your family or in your marital status/common law partnership, you should not proceed to Canada, regardless of any advice to the contrary that you may receive from anyone assisting in the filing of your application.
We have also enclosed a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (CPR) form for each person in your family who will be traveling to Canada. Each person must carry this form with his or her passport to Canada. It will assist you in becoming a Canadian Permanent Resident and will be a record of your arrival in Canada.
If a visa or CPR for any person is not provided, please contact this office.
DO NOT SIGN YOUR CPR UNTIL TOLD TO DO SO BY THE IMMIGRATION OFFICER AT THE PORT OF ENTRY IN CANADA. At the time of your arrival, you will be interviewed, and granted entry into Canada based on the information in the documents that we are providing to you now. Then each person will be asked to sign his or her document. A parent may be required to sign on behalf of any children under 18 years of age.
VISA INFORMATION ***IMPORTANT***
Please check the visa(s) and CPR(s) to make sure that there are no errors. Your visa was issued on the basis of the information you have provided. If there are errors you must notify this office immediately. If the name or date of birth of any family member differes from the name and date of birth in that person’s passport, or if the passport number or validity is incorrect, please return the passport and CPR for correction.
Your visa expiry date is printed on your visa, in he format of dd-mm-yyyy. You must arrive in Canada on or before the visa expiry date. Your expiry date is 10 XXX 2009.
YOUR VISA HAS BEEN GIVEN THE MAXIMUM VALIDITY.
IT CANNOT BE EXTENDED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
If you do not use your visa before it expires, you must reapply for immigration to Canada. You will have to go through all processing steps again. Applications for permanent residence in Canada are assessed according to the laws and regulations in force at the time of their assessment. he fact that a visa was previously issued to you does not mean that a subsequent application will also be approved.
Make sure that your CPR is kept with your passport at all times.
Do not sign, write on, or attempt to change your documents in any way. Do not laminate these documents.
Dependents may accompany or follow the principal applicant, but cannot arrive in Canada before the principal applicant. If dependents do not join the principal appliant before the expiry date on their visas, they must reapply for immigration to Canada. They may not join their family in Canada until they have accepted again for immigration.
We advise strongly that you carry with you all of your personal and professional papers such as birth and marriage certificates, school diplomas and letters of reference.
If you plan to settle in the province of Quebec, you must be in possession of valid Certificat de Selection du Quebec (CSQ).
Should you decide not to migrate to Canada, you should return the CPR to this office.
Additional information is attached. You should read this information to find out whether you are affected by any of these items.
We wish you a pleasant journey and every success in your future in Canada.
Sincerely,
for Consul.
